STHA Plans for Wisconsin State Fair

Save The Hills Alliance and Concerned Chippewa Citizens plan to rent an exhibit space again this year during the Northern Wisconsin State Fair in Chippewa Falls which runs from July 10th through July 14th.

At this time, we are seeking volunteers to assist in the booth space during those days. The exhibitor building is open from 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. on Wednesday through Saturday, and from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday.

We are also extending an invitation to other groups in the area to assist us or join us at the booth during those days with their own displays and information to help promote the impacts of the non-metallic mining industry in our local communities.

Please consider volunteering and/or financially contributing to our organization to help defray the exhibit costs. The booth fees start at $325.00, and we could not operate without the commitment of volunteers and critical financial support.

Our members and board of directors include members from Concerned Chippewa Citizens, Concerned Citizens of Bridge Creek, Citizens for Responsible Land Use, Citizens for Environmental Stewardship, and others within Dunn, Chippewa, Eau Claire, Barron, and Trempeleau Counties. A few of the events our members have participated in and/or held presentations at recently are the Wisconsin Progressive Grassroots Festival in Mazomanie in February; the Wisconsin Network for Peace and Justice Spring Meeting in March; the Price of Sand screening at the Heyde Center in April; the Frac Sand Film Festival in Whitehall in May; and the upcoming Standing Against the Sand Storm event in Black River Falls on June 1st.

Contributions help us continue to provide services, resources, and educational activities in local communities impacted by the environmental problems and concerns of the non-metallic mining industry. Please forward any financial contributions, payable to Save The Hills Alliance, to Ken Lestrud, Treasurer, N7225 690th Street, Menomonie, WI 54751.

If you would like to volunteer at the exhibit booth at the upcoming Northern Wisconsin State Fair, individually or as a group, please contact me or any board member for further information, and feel free to pass this along to others who may be interested.

Thank you.

Courteous, concise comments relevant to the topic are welcome, whether or not they agree with the views that predominate here. Long rants proclaiming the infallibility of your own views or favorite ideology will not be posted, neither will repeated attempts to hammer on a point already addressed, nor will comments containing profanity, abusive language, flame-baiting and name calling. Please indicate precisely what you are blogging about. I just got a post from ? E-Mail ? which said: "Is this going to be OUR furture??. I have no idea what they were referring to and no way to contact them. This is why we prefer comments that are signed by actual persons who leave their E-Mail address (it won't be published) so they can be contacted if questions arise.
