How can we stop these snd mines from taking away our farmland and ruining our rural life? Right now they are drilling test holes for sand at the neighbor’s farm a quarte of a mile away.
We see the trucks and can hear the drilling process even in the house with the windows closed. We were approached too by the company but we said “NO!” so they just went up the road to the neighbors. We are afraid for our future and our children’s. They had wanted to take over the farm one day and now that looks very dim.

I live near amery wi, 7mi north east monarch paving has a sand and gravel operation along with some sort of contaminated soil cleaning unit that spues nasty fumes in the air there is a filter on the unit but is not used alot of the time, I live down wind and can tell the differince, it actually makes our eyes water and it is hard on sinuses. I have also developed some skin irritationbut not sure if related. Monarch has a large open-many acres probly close to a hole section of land the pit has been in operation for 40+++ years. A week ago I found out that a cement co from a near buy town wants to buy a 155 acre piece of land across the road west of monarch. this is to much mining in one area, having a opening hole in the ground that large does escalate all the hazards that go along with this kind of distruction. I just found out that they are developing different varitys of sand used for fracking so no county in wisconsin. basically our world is in big trouble. feb 13 there will be a planning commity meeting at our town hall. There is very little info I can find on the harmful effects of sand and gravel mining, frack sand is the big thing now. They both go hand in hand and need to be controlled. I am trying to get people intrested in fighting this its seems to be very hard. I need to find some usefull information in a hurry that I can present to the board and the people. thanks rick- tulsterman@yahoo.com
